Nero Burning DVD Problem Help?

I have a friend that I have been trying to help burn DVD's. He records his videos with Tivo to his computer. He then uses Nero Vision to burn the DVD to DVD -R and RW's. The video plays fine for about 15 minutes then just cuts off and goes back to menu. You can fast forward or pause or anything. It just goes back and cuts off. And the quality isn't that good. Things in the background are kinda fuzzy. Ive tried recording at a slower speed and it doesn't help. Tried using different types of DVDs to. Should i try another software like Roxio? Or maybe try a new drive? Please help. Thank you all.

He needs to burn at x2 or x1 for the best results.

The lowest it lets him burn is 2x and thats what he uses. When he go higher the lip sync gets all off.
