MS Outlook Archive
Does anyone have any recommendations for some software to replace the awful stuff built into Outlook? I need a means of archiving or backing up individual folders in such a way that they can be retrieved at a future date.

Are we talking about Outlook or Outlook Express here?
In real Outlook, what is wrong with File->Import and export, Export to a file, Personal folder file? As for Outlook Express, you should simply not use that awful excuse for a program that is a close runner-up to IE when it comes to security blunders, number of compromised computers and awkwardness. |

There isn't much better than the Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007. But there are a number of free or inexpensive programs available for Outlook and Outlook Express on www.majorgeeks.com that might be useful.
Most of what you need are built into Outlook, but Outlook Express is more difficult and the free software archives are quite good. |

The app is Outlook - OE is OK for small volumes of data (but it is much easier to copy message folders back and forth in OE)
The problem with Outlook is that when you archive message folders there seems to be no way to retrieve them on a folder by folder basis. I will have a shufti at majorgeeks - thanks for the pointer! |
