Windows no disk error
I keep getting this recently, and scanning my whole computer and thumbdrives is not helping.
I think it is caused by a virus, and I have been using command prompt to delete any autorun files that are in my drives/thumdrive. Anyone got a clue what's happening? Thanks for reading by the way. I have a question. What are you doing when this error is generated? For example, are you trying to get Windows to recognize a CD? (for clarification purposes)

I was reading an SD card with my card reader. This has not happened before =/

Have you done anything to try to correct the problem such as rebooting, or anything like that? Have you looked for any information in your device manager or event viewer? Disconnected, then reconnected, etc..., or did you post the problem first?
In addition (I don't think that this is your problem, but could be), if you are fearful that you have an infection you should probably follow the instructions in this thread to deal with that in the proper forum. It's always good to get a malware checkup from time to time. |

I've researched some on this, and even scanned my computer twice for viruses.
After deleting whatever autorun files from my thumdrives/SD cards they no longer gave such a problem. Infected drives do nothing when double clicked on. However, typing "del autorun.*/f/s/q/a" and reconnecting the device solves the problem of not being able to double click the affected drive. Today I got a Ipod classic, and when I disconnected it from my computer it gave the no disk error again, so I reconnected it, deleted the autorun file, then reconnect again, and I am able to open the ipod drive by double clicking. However, the stupid autorun file keeps coming back into my ipod. When I try to eject it using itunes, it tells me that a program is still accessing the ipod. I am currently using free antivirus by AOL and Mcafee, going to try Kaspersky, hope it finds the virus! Last edited by Lonereaction; 09-25-2007 at 11:57 AM.. |

Hmm, now I get the no disk error when I turn on my computer. >_<
And Kaspersky keeps detecting Trojan-Spy.Win32.Small.gt I've fixed O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [uninstx.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\uninstx.exe, it seems to solve the problem though. Last edited by Lonereaction; 09-26-2007 at 12:34 AM.. |

I tried scanning for viruses again, and still detect the stupid Trojan-Spy.Win32.Small.gt virus. It keeps coming back.
Followed this link, seems to be fixed for now. http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...isk-error.html Last edited by Lonereaction; 09-26-2007 at 04:52 AM.. |
