New PC for a week - Restart problem :(

I have had my new pc for about a week now and since its first day it's been restarting randomly... I got the hardware installed by the store but did the software installation myself. I didn't touch the BIOS because I dont know what to do with it, just installed XP and drivers etc.

I looked up event viewer and found the following:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x100000d1 (0x00000104, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xb67e6765). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini092107-04.dmp.

--I thought it might be a ram issue? so i changed the ram slots, but it still restarts... this time with different bugcheck reports.

All these dumps happened separately. I just copy pasted the info to word. Hopefully someone can decode it and tell me whats wrong? :eek:

Your system looks ok, but a bit weak on the power supply end.
We are more interested in what spyware, antivirus, and firewall you are using... and what their scans report.
 
I would recommend upgrading your power supply sometime, but i doubt its the problem cause i have an E6550 (too), 8800GTS, 500GB Hard Disk, 2GB 800Mhz RAM, and only have a 400W PSU (im gonna get a new one soon). Is there any chance you have been virused? been to any untrustworthy sites or downloaded something which was odd or diddnt do what it was supposed to?
 
Since it has only been a week I would reload the OS making sure your cd is good ( no scratches) I have seen new loads of winxp run like crap and reloading again works fine.

Since your system was never burned in. Part compatibility can be a big issue with a custom machine. Most issues reside with the ram and motherboard compatibility. To check compatibility of ram download memtest86

set up to boot from cd and run program.

As for settings with the Bios. You should not have to mess with it. The PC Shop when building it should have set all parmeters.
 
i remember getting the error the first day i got it. i installed windows xp. hardly went on the internet. and then the blue screen popped outta no where.

I still need to run memtest. Maybe its a ram error?
 
You begin by eliminating possibilities. Memtest86 is good and cheap, but run it for four hours or seven passes.
Then check ALL your drivers. Sometimes the cause is an errant video graphics driver, or a chipset driver that needs an upgrade.
 
I think I may have narrowed the problem down? Instead of randomly restarting, which it still does. It restarts every time I change resolutions in the game enemy territory: quake wars demo. I check the event viewer and get the same logs similar to the ones i posted above.

Could it be a faulty graphics card? I'll run memtest now after i burn it to cd and post back when its done.
 
I couldnt be bothered waiting for memtest so i just tested my ram individually. using only 1gig of ram instead of 2gigs.

I went into the game and changed resolution, then my comp restarted. Then i took the ram out and tried another new ram that my mate left at my house. Went in the game and changed resolution, and again my comp restarted. So i don't think its a ram issue?
 
so the BSOD came up and i disabled auto restart so I could get a better look at it... Seems I have an NV4_Disp.dll problem.
