Hmm. I'm going to help, but I'm not entirely sure you are aware of what you are getting into.
iTunes won't run on 98, and therefore you don't have any official route to doing anything with your iPod.

Since you can't run iTunes you are going to have to use an unofficial way to get songs to your iPod.

EphPod also works.
In my breif searching for your answer I also found several mentions of
Media Monkey, that may be a good solution once you get the driver thing taken care of.
