Change Dell service tag?

B

burrelly

I have just replaced the motherboard on my Dell D420 and the service tag in the bios does not match the system now.

I have had a look about and found a few ways suggested to change it but am unable to. Does anyone know a way around this?

Nice try
BTW
How exactly did you change the mobo on that laptop?
What's your service tag # on record with Dell?
If it's correct you should have no issues.

It was a second hand motherboard.

I am not going to give my full service tag but it is a UK tag ending in 2J the new board is also a UK tag ending in 2J

I want both the base and the bios to match I know i wont have any issues if i call dell for support as they will check the actual tag and see it is in warrenty but for neatness I would like them to match up.

There must be a way to do it?

Redster the os is nothing to do with it, the tag is stored on the bios.

Just uploaded an iso to help everyone out on this post it around rapidshare.com/files/98360686/DellBIOSReset.rar.html
