CPU fan speed sensor

Looking to quieten things down on my Celeron 2.6ghz mobo I've replaced the original cooler with a Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu and Fanmate.

With the Fanmate turned low the machine is wonderfully silent, and maintains a nice low temperature. But the fan speed is insufficient for the machine to boot :(. If I turn up the speed it boots OK , but is louder.

Having looked in the BIOS (Imperial 845GV mobo) there are no facilities to either disable the CPU fan speed sensor, or to set a lower limit.

Any thoughts on how I could 'trick' the system into believing there was a higher fan speed at start-up?:confused:

If you have a case fan in you computer taht runs at a fast enough speed, or buy a fan with a 3 pin connector and connect it to your CPU power connector. That will fix the speed problem, but it wont track the cpu fan speed
 
if you hit F11 it will go into the advanced bios.....i no cuz i got thge same mobo....go to the 2nd tab and hit hardware manament and disable CPU fan detection...and it will boot
 
fan in a laptop

hi

i bought a new laptop one week back. the fan keeps on switching on and off every two to five minutes. it is toshiba brand new laptop. this happens even if i run one or two applications like websites. is it normal or is it a defect. fan when it swithes on , it makes noise which is similar to when the laptop starts

please let me know if anybody knows a thing or two quickly about this

can u be a bit more specific, one think u can do is to check the temp of ur cpu and stuff.....

but that might not be the problem.....

if can be a bit more specific the answer can be a lot more clearer.
 
Fan speed controll programmes are available.

there are various versions available some work with other brands that are not listed

Try

The first one is a generic one see disclaimer at

The second is a dell/and many others see disclaimaer at http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/

Not every chipset has a speed control capability, but most of the newer ones do.

So I suspect that speedfan will help.

As with all freeware, if you use it and like it it is always nice to go to the relevant programmers website and give a donation if they take them.
 
it depends what version of BIOS you have, most of them you can just go on and there will be a CPU fan option and in there it will tell you your rpm of your fan

Dell is Hell.
But if you have something else you might have or can get a utility to measure
temp and fan speed.
asus has Probe.
You can download this but it's probably only for asus.
Check your mbd website.
