Kind of a tricky laptop question

A friend of mine gave me his laptop to look at after it stopped functioning this summer. It's an HP pavillion dv1000, and I guess the issue is that it will not power on, nor show any indication of power even if plugged in. He said it got left in his car for a couple weeks last summer, during times where the heat was pretty intense, especially in a car.
I was wondering if anyone else had encountered anything like this in the past, or perhaps knows what the main issue might be. Thanks in advance!

A common problem is power management failure - the battery is flat and mains power is not getting through. Does the power supply have output?

There doesn't appear to be any output, at least as far as I can tell.

Before you do anything else you need to get this power supply unit tested. Some need a load before delivering current so you could check it in another similar laptop or have a shop check it. I doubt the heat in the car is the cause.
