Random bsods -minidump analysis please
Hi, have been having this problem for some time - get a BSOD randomly usualy in the first few mins after botting up - but sometimes after PC has been on for hours. It can be during gaming, surfing, or nothing. sometimes it wont happen for days, or like the last half hour it can restart over and over in the first 30 seconds after boot. Since it started happening my PSU started playing up and has been replaced, my graphics card has been upgraded, and my HDD's have been replaced (although the data was cloned from the old drives). I've run checks on HDD (chkdsk and WD diagnostics) and memtest86+ with no errors found.
my PC is as follows (at least I'm pretty sure - this is from memory): Windows XP SP2 Abit KN8 SLi AMD 64 3000+ 1GB Crucial RAM (think 2700 but can check on this later) Hiper 580W type R PSU Maxtor 250GB WD 300GB GeForce 7600GT if anyone could help me interpret these minidumps that would be great. thanks a lot, Dan |

Hmm, going out on a limb here but, check Add/Remove Programs and see if you have NVidia's Network Access Manager installed. If so, uninstall it and reboot. Then, make sure your nForce4 drivers are up to date and upon installing the latest drivers decline the installation of NVidia's Network Access Manager. Reboot after the installation process has completed.

hi, thanks for the responses guys - removed NVidia's Network Access Manager from my add/remove programs list, and that seems to have at least helped - I'll d/l the latest drivers from abit next.
cheers, Dan |

well after restarting my PC multiple times yesterday - still seems to be running perfectly, obviously difficult to say definitively as it was random when it was crashing - but it looks pretty good!
I installed the latest drivers no prob and didn't install the Network Access Manager - so at the moment am running with windows own firewall - any recomendations for other firewalls? Thanks again! |
