Canon on Thursday announced the fourth revision of its popular full-frame DSLR camera, the EOS 5D Mark IV.
Following in the footsteps of the Mark III (now a four-year-old camera), the Mark IV includes a number of enhancement and modern amenities. For starters, you get an all-new 30.4-megapixel sensor with a native ISO range of 100 - 32,000 (expandable to 50 - 102,400) alongside Canon's Digic 6+ image processor and Dual Pixel autofocus system.
Shooting speed is slightly faster as well - now at seven frames per second versus six.
The 3.2-inch rear-facing LCD screen is the same size as its predecessor but it now packs more pixels and is touch sensitive. Canon has also added both NFC and Wi-Fi capabilities to the Mark IV as well as GPS, making this a seriously connected shooter.
Videographers will also appreciate the camera's ability to shoot 4K video at up to 30 frames per second or 1080p video at 60 frames per second. It also does HDR, if you're into that sort of thing.
Internally, Canon has tweaked the mirror mechanism slightly to reduce vibration. The body as a whole also received an improved weather-sealing treatment which should make shooting in even the harshest of environments a breeze.
Look for the new Canon EOS 5D Mark IV to arrive next month priced at $3,499 for the body only or $4,399 when paired with the EF 24-70mm F/4L. You'll also be able to get it with the new EF 24-105mm F/4L IS II USM for $4,599. Note that the latter bundle won't arrive until October.
