Benchmarks: Rainbow Six Siege, Crysis 3
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege plays exceptionally well on the GeForce GTX 1080, delivering a smooth 65fps at 4K resolution. It's 20% faster than the Titan X and 30% faster than the GTX 980 Ti. Meanwhile it was also 27% faster than the Fury X when comparing minimum frame rates. However, you will have no doubt noticed the weak minimum frame rate of the Fury X, as well as the Fury and Nano cards.
Rainbow Six Siege was tested using the 6GB ultra textures pack and it appears as though these high resolution textures are hampering the performance of the 4GB HBM cards. This is made evident by the fact that 8GB 390X and 390 cards don't suffer the same fate as the Fury range.
But can it play Crysis? Incredibly, Crysis 3 is still able to punish even the likes of the GTX 1080, not bad for a 3-year old title. Granted we were testing at 4K using the highest SMAA quality setting, but that alone can't be attributed to the low 34fps of the GTX 1080. Despite the lowish frame rates the GTX 1080 was 42% faster than the Titan X, 48% faster than the GTX 980 Ti and 54% faster than the Fury X.
