8800gt or 7950gx2

right now i have a single 7950gt 256mb the gx2 has a whopping 1 gig vram and the 8800only 512 wat should i get iam saving some cash on the gx2 also
 
Yeah...absolutely go 2x7950. That is a great card and two of them would have to be great and better than one 8800 GT. Interested to hear what others may say. G' Luck.

You couldn't be more wrong. The 8800GT is more powerful than the 7950GX2 by a fair margin. Not to mention the 8800GT uses less power and generates less heat. It also supports DX10 ans SM4.0 which the 7950GX2 does not which will impact greatly on next generation games such as Crysis.

Do NOT fall into the trap thinking 1GB is better than 512MB vram because it simply isn't unless the card is fast enough to utilize it. And since the 8800GT is already faster than the 8800GT, it will be able to utilize its 512MB vram a whole lot quicker and better than what the 7950GX2 can with its 1GB vram.

The 7950GX2 is barely faster than the X1950XTX which is, or almost, twice as slow as the 8800GT. So 8800GT wins hands down.
