I'm getting a new Graphics card, however upon doing some research I found that I had none of the up and coming graphics connectors (pci express, agp 8x exc.) all I have is a AGP 4x and a few regular PCI's

My question is, would a card intended for a 8x connection work on 4x, or is the difference of a physical nature?

If it is a physical difference, do they even still make new graphics cards in 4x or PCI format?

You won't be able to use any PCI-E cards, but you could certainly buy an 8x AGP card. It will work in your 4x AGP slot, it just won't be as fast as if you had an 8x AGP slot.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Yes you can run an 8Xagp card in your 4Xagp slot no problem.

As JustinPS says it just wont be quite as fast as an 8X agp slot.

That shouldn't be much of a problem, unless it like, halves the performance, I just want to be able to play some games that arn't 3 years old.

Thanks!

It will be a neglible speed reduction, so you don't have to worry about that...

Just enjoy the new games you'll now be able to play :)
