A processor question

Hey guys i just got a AMD Applebred 1.8ghz, and the question is if i need to upgrade my bios for it? I have right now a Thunderbird 900mhz, and the date on my bios is may, 2000. But its a compaq motherboard, so its near to impossible to tweak, and I couldnt find any specific update for my motherboard.

Are you sure that mobo is Compaq original? It may very well be some generic motherboard and all you have to do is to find the real model HP doesn't want to tell you. Then just go and get the BIOS/specs from the real manufacturer.

With the letters/numbers that are printed on the motherboard, usually between the PCI-slots or near the edge, you should be able to find exactly which one.
And try a Google with the exact Compaq model.
