I'm ordering a computer from monarch and it's coming with a 120gb WD sata hd. I planned on putting my 200gb ide hd I currently use for storage in the new computer will that work alright? One SATA and one IDE?

Yes. Depending on your motherboard you may have to have sata drivers on a floppy before you can install windows to the sata drive. There is a spot at the beginning of the XP install where you press F6 to install 3rd party drivers for your hard drive.

It's all coming preinstalled I will be putting the IDE in after I get it so what do I do then?
Doesn't matter. Same thing I said in my first post.

if you open the box up you void warrenty right?
I would wait a while and run the machine through its pace's first make sure you dont' have to rma it
it is coming with xp preinstalled right???
after you feel everything is fine
open up machine and find the ide port connector use the old ribbon or ,hopefully they gave you one with the new machine
add the new drive to what ever connection is available
make sure you have the setting on the cable to Cs at first
boot up if you get boot failed don't freak yet
unplug the drive and boot again should boot to the sata again just fine
now get out the MB manual and fig out the right boot config for the MB
