Ac'97 Driver Help Plz

I recently re-installed Windows XP and therefore had to re-install the AC'97 Driver by Realtek. Now, my problem is that the manager is really screwed up and I only have partial sound. What I mean by this is that sound only works in iTunes and in the "Test Speakers" option in the manager. Sound does not work for windows xp sounds, msn, games, etc. The options I had selected to make just this small amount of sounds dont even make sense to the way my connection is. Can anyone please give me some help to getting my sound working? An e-mail would be great so I can contact faster.

Did you get the driver for your sound directly from your motherboard maker's website? (assuming your sound is integrated - if not did you get it directly from the maker of your sound card?)

The soundcard is part of my mother board and downloaded the driver for it but the sound only works for certain programs. Is this a configuration problem?
