AC97 Sound problem.

Hi,

I have an Acer 661 laptop running Windows XPPro with a Realtek AC97 soundcard and it doesn't want to record from the cd rom drive. All settings appear to be ok ie recording source checked. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why not just use Windows Media Player to rip the CD tracks into WMA/MP3 format? The record source & all that should be irrelevent

Yeah, fine for wma files but I need to record to .wav file for use in programs that only recognise .wav format!

On my pc with sounblaster card win.98 all works fine, and what i'm really trying to get to the bottom of is whether it's an ac97 thing or a windows xp thing????

Wav ehhh, I think that Audiograbber allows you to rip in Wav format - http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/

Thanks. Since my last post I've downloaded cdex which does the same thing...............problem sorted!
