Access Denied Errors during SP2 install

Recently I repaired my XP OS only to find out that I needed to reinstall SP2. During the process I received some "Access Denied" error messages. Some keys in the registry did not have full and read permissions for the administrator account. I followed Microsoft's recommendations and checked the setup log and manually gave the particular keys permissions. The problems I am having are (1) whenever I restart my PC the keys lose the permissions and (2) I keep finding more and more keys that the administrator account doesn't have the appropriate permissions to. Outside of doing each individual key, is there a way to ensure that the Administrator's account has full permissions throughout the registry? Thanks in advance.

I don't know how to grant full admin permissions but have you tried slipstreaming SP2 with your Windows XP?
