PUIU > I don't think you understand at all just how far off SC is from being an actually playable game that can be released to the public. Any developer will you tell you this: 90% of the work is in the last 10% (and this is not a joke). This is why people call it a scam, it's just not feasible to finish it at the rate they are burning money.

Who the hell expects whales to feed a project for 2 decades and at the of those 2 decades to call it "a success"? Sadly the sunk cost fallacy is real with this project and you are the perfect example of it. In 2031 you'll still be writing in forums just how great it will be when it comes out.
Your problem is that you repeating what you have seen from dedicated haters thread... except by definition they do lie and obfuscate all the times.

Facts: in 2020 someone extracted RSI data about backers. Here is the result:

- Concierge: 2.3% x 1000$ = 23 M$
- Whales: 0.0142% x 10K = 1.42 M$
- Starter package+: 97.71% = 326 M$

There is no more whales in SC than in any others games. Fortnite do have +350 millions players, I bet the % percentage of those spending several thousands on skins (just skins not ambitious games) do match at minimum SC.
Sunk cost is the second 'proof' of haters... Except again this if false. For 45$ SC already provided hundreds hours of entertainment and the best is to come. All flyablle ships available in game for credits not cash... Another fact that haters said it will never happen before at least release.

Haters hate that is a life style.

The fact that you believe "starter packs" do not include whales just goes to show just how indoctrinated you are. Have you even seen the prices on those packs? The UEE EXPLORATION 2950 pack costs more than 1300$. There are many 100+$ packs, these packs change over time and you can buy multiple.

"they do lie and obfuscate all the times" - Oh, the irony, I caught you red-handed lying about the numbers.

Let me put the whaling into perspective for you: in 2020 SC brought in 77mil from crowdfunding with around 750k unique players (many of whom were people who already owned packs from previous years). It paints a pretty interesting picture of how much money people pay, right?

This is how you use statistics, not just some random numbers thrown around.

I prefer a healthy lifestyle, where I call out BS when I see it. When I see a scam I call it as such, I don't look for excuses.

As a Star citizen backer that is is close to 7 k The 890 jump, constellation phoenix, and star fierier are false adverting. They are legally baited and switch marketing in their current state.

Let’s take a look at the 890 jump the 890 jump ship for example. The 890 jump was to be this cool multirole exploration ship that can handle itself dangerous territories at the concept and 5 years later the 890 jump isn't that ship andyou can’t refund the ship. Here is a quote from the Letter from the Chairman: $28 Million you should google.

“ Origin 890 JUMP – The rumors are true: Origin Jumpworks has a larger ship in the works! The Origin 890 JUMP is an interstellar super-yacht with exquisite styling and an array of high-quality upgrade options. Travel the stars in style with multiple decks, high visibility windows and a small boat bay. Whether you’re outfitting it to explore new worlds or to take a pleasure cruise through Terra, the 890 JUMP is the epitome of luxury, class and refinement!”

also on the 890 jump sales page here is another quote “

Vanduul inbound? Pirate Cutlasses on an attack vector? Trouble with local customs? It’s their funeral. The 890 Jump isn’t just a beautiful silhouette; it comes factory-equipped with a lethal array of defensive and offensive weaponry powerful enough to take on anything the enemy can bring to bear.

Boarders will think twice when finding themselves facing off against five turrets, two missile launchers and a pair of point defense batteries. And every weapon and component is a top-of-the-line design from a selection of the galaxy’s best manufacturers. Every approach is covered, and the central bridge can transition the ship from peaceful cruiser to raining hell in mere seconds.”

Even Jared himself said the 890 jump would be a well-armed yacht on the youtube video called “Star Citizen Live: The 890 Jump”

According to star citizen game devs along with some star citizen backers, they will now claim the 890 jump is not an exploration ship. In fact, 1 out 4 games CIg very own game devs can't even give you a reason to own an 890 jump on the youtube video called ”Star Citizen: Ship Showdown LIVE 2020" but still sells the 890 jump for $950 US dollars. You will not find the words

useless

transport ship

role-playing ship

not an exploration ship

party boat

doesn’t have the firepower or does not need any more firepower

cruise liner

cruise ship in any of of CGi marketing or the Letter from the Chairman: $28 Million! page but both the CIg game devs and the star citizen community will trash those 890 jump and claim it is today,

lookup the following threads as proof on the spectrum forums,

read threads from spectrum like

I would like an 890 jump exploration variant

Gratitude, and a request for clarification on the 890

Testing a crewed 890 jump in 3.14

Origin’s Practicality

Abuse and exploit 890 jumps and give them

The Future of the brand Origin Jumpworks

Battle Bridge?

Why do people keep calling the 890 Jump cruise liner? cruise liner and yacht different types of ships

Should I keep the 890

Fun ways to blow up or exploit 890. Valid pirate / PvP tactics for luls

Prepare to get your 890 trashed even more

Believe it or not...

1 out 4 game devs gives reason to own and 890 jump

Battle Bridge?

Why do people keep calling the 890 Jump cruise liner? cruise liner and yacht different types of ships

Should I keep the 890

When the hammerhead is more rare and limited than the 890 jump

google” Letter from the Chairman: $28 Million!” then ask people what the 890 jump is

The Cig game devs even claim the 890 jump would be a rare and limited ship that was another lie. When confronted with these facts some star citizen backers in the star citizen community would claim that ships sales are not a pledge but a donation.

Your problem is that you repeating what you have seen from dedicated haters thread... except by definition they do lie and obfuscate all the times.
Your problem is you think everyone is stupid enough to just shake their heads, and accept verbatim everything you say.as fact.

For sometime, I have wondered if, "JoeBlobbers", is a bot. Lets call it a "damage control bot". I find it somewhat unpleasant to deal with you, and accordingly, I certainly don't care if you participate in other threads and topics here..

But, your consistent appearances every time a negative article about Star Citizen is posted, is definitely revealing as to your singular motivation.

In general, your shtick is, "I am always right, and those whose opinions differ, are "haters", and have no idea what they are talking about".

Addictions and epidemics thereof, are quite common.in the US these days. Gaming obsession is now recognized as an actual "disease". So, in spite of the hand picked but meaningless numbers you constantly bandy about, some to all those members could just be searching for another, "gaming fix".

In any event, all the blather about "our community" ad naseum, is revealed as a propaganda technique. (bandwagon, I think). I often refer back to the Wiki articles on propaganda and its techniques to make certain I do not fall prey to it..

The reason I have mused as to whether or not your are human or a bot, is that your English composition and syntax is so crude, one has to wonder if you have anywhere near sufficient education to perform the function you've been assigned. But then, perhaps it would be counterproductive to send out someone "overqualified", or too articulate, since the intended marks might not identify with you as intended.

At any rate, through our former contacts, I find the easiest way to get rid of you, is to simply not respond. At that point, you will fantasize it's, "mission accomplished", and go haunt another website.

But, you're so persistent and so annoying, I always fall into the tar pit.with you, metaphorically speaking.

It's a double edged sword though. It apparently annoys you when I say ,"I'm ambivalent" about the game, as you apparently, instead of arguing with me, would rather spend your time comforting members against possible upset or doubt from any bad publicity...

False there was 1 million not 750K backers and you do not trigger 'whaling' status when even reaching 1K.
Most WOW players do spend more over the same period of time through subscription alone and micro transactions (yes we know it is a finished game). Factually spending even 1K over x years does not mean you are a whole otherwise all time player of WOW are whales... which is not true.

You caught nobody lying. Nobody said +1K package do exist... everyone can see it on RSI site. That does not mean a majority of backers buy them, the opposite in fact.
NO SC is not a special animal where all whales are heading. Gathered data do show the opposite: less than 3%... that's nothing vs 97%... Swallow it lol

Here, from the mouth of Robert himself (notice how I rounded the number to 750k?)

"This year, we had over 740,000 unique players play Star Citizen, and we still have another week and a half to go. Nearly half a million of them were returning or continually active players, and a quarter of a million were complete newcomers to the ‘verse that we welcomed to our community this year. It’s no wonder that with that type of record engagement we had our most successful year of revenue ever, eclipsing last year’s historic mark by over 60% (you can read about our 2019 Financials in our annual post by our CFO). "

FYI: Why are you so proud to say 1 million instead of 750k? It changes nothing, what I said is still true. O_o ---> in the end you just proved me right. That you for showing to everyone the real numbers, thank you for proving it's a whale bait scam.

"less than 3%... that's nothing vs 97%" - This is the definition of whale baiting. I also like how you went from 0.0142% in one place, to 3% here :) It shows that the numbers I presented in my comment affect your way of thinking about the whole situation and you are panicking when faced with facts backed by numbers.

This is why I like to present simple counter-arguments to people like you. By the end of it, they just implode and say something that actually agrees with what I said and contradict themselves.

How do you figure I used 3 pages, or was it 4? Do you know? Are you making those number up?. I gives me pause to wonder if you can't count, or a very slow reader.. Which makes sense, since you give the same set of answers, no matter what anyone else posts.

With my vertical (portrait) configured monitor, I come up with about 3/4 of a page.

So there you go, fabricating those numbers again.

And there you go, justifying and dismissing everything, with your childish repetitive dogma, "haters gonna hate", it's only haters that won't give money to Star Citizen..

@Piuu you missed of course on purposes to mention complementary information right int the same Letter.... How surprising.

Quote from letter of the Chairman:
Bringing New Players Into the ‘Verse
We added over four hundred thousand new accounts to the game in 2020, and grew our paying players by 20%, recording our best year ever in terms of new paid player growth (and our second best in new accounts). This January, we crossed 1 million paying player accounts, and have been steadily adding tens of thousands more every month, especially in May when we debuted Invictus Launch Week. Today, we stand at 1,177,919 Paying Accounts and counting"
Trying to ignore 750K players is not equal to 1 million paying account is gross obfuscation attempt.

No it show simply that I round up the number of 'whales' (even if spending 1K over years on a game is not being a whale by any means). That is a proof I don't try to minimize it while the 0.0142% refer to guys who pledge at least 10K$. They are whales by definition, not others.

You are the one trying to twist comments. I put the number to be visible to all and I round up number not to minimize the gross total. Again you are caught trying to twist facts... so surprising.
You are really desperate if you think pinpointing a guy twisting sentence make me panicking... panicking because of a game and an anon guy on internet doing its daily hater job.

Lol what a total non sense.

I cannot make the decision for you; however, with 7k in the game, IMO, you have spent enough.

As I see it, the advantage that you have over others amounts to bragging rights. What I would suggest is to sit on your investment for the time being, and don't be sucked further in by sales tactics (time-limited sales and "special edition" ships are, as I see it, sales tactics.) If you feel the need to switch, then switch, however, keep in mind that there is bound to be another "deal" that will come along to tempt you to invest more or get that "limited edition" ship available for, as an example, "this week only".

It sounds to me like you are expressing some disappointment already, and if you spend more or switch to something that you think is going to be better only to then have something even better, in your eyes, come along, then your disappointment will likely only increase. Delaying your gratification, IMO, would be a better approach.

You clearly don't understand what is being said there. Here, so let me enlighten you:

If there are 1 million accounts, but only 740k unique players, that means around 260k accounts are belong to people who have multiple accounts (simple maths). It only strengthens what I said about people buying multiple expensive packs.

Thanks for point it out for us, I didn't want to humiliate you this much, but you are just serving yourself on a silver platter for everybody here to see. I'm not twisting anything, you are the one twisting the knife deeper and deeper into your chest.

FYI I'm not talking about people spending 1k over multiple years, it's pretty clear from the 2020 numbers that many people are spending that much in a single year. It's what happens when your entire business revolves around getting money from crowdfunding, you are forced to use predatory tactics to stay afloat.

Let's do some simple math with your numbers, not mine:

1. let's assume that only 0.0142% pay over 10k. to be more in your favour I'm going to make it 20k average for these people and I'll use 1 million accounts, not unique players.

1mil*0.0142*20000 = 1420*20000 = 2.84mil

2. we'll use the official 77mil number for crowdfunding to calculate the average for the rest
77mil - 2.84mil = 74.16mil
74.16mil/998580 = 74.256

This means that on average the rest paid 74$ (mind you that this is a huge number compared to other games).

To put it in perspective, In the last 30 days Genshin Impact had about 50 million active players across all platforms and it generated since launch about 1.5bil. Ignoring the fact that many players stopped playing since its launch in 2020 and we use just the 50 mil we get about 30$ average for its first year (I suspect that real average is about 15$ or less if we use all players that have played the game). And this is a game that uses a gacha system.

But this "74$" doesn't make much sense in this situation because we are looking at half or two thirds of the players already having bought a pack or the min required to access the game. The current cheapest packs (19% tax included) are around 53$. Try to come up with an estimate yourself and you'll see just how disproportionate it is

I don't think you can ignore this like you do with most of what I say since this is simple maths. These numbers clearly indicated that A LOT of people paid A LOT of money in 2020. Packs, ships, you name it.

Sorry, I have not replied to your comment right away. As paying consumer to star citizen the harassment and frankly Cyberstalking for my views I get isn't worth it at Concierge level. I have summited a refund claim cig support. On top of that Star citizen mods allow non origin backers to trash the entire origins line up.

Even Jared himself when Cig was trying to the 890 jump said the 890 jump would be mutirole ship when states in the youtube video the 890 jump "has many talents" or " the 890 jump is a well armed yacht"

Star Citizen Live: The 890 Jump

Now the star citizen community along with some game devs claim it is just a role playing ship, passenger transport, not an explorations, arty boat or useless ship,

They can change the digital ship without me.

A recommended read from another 890 jump owner google " 890 Jump - expectations vs reality" not sure who the author is
https://www.bluehangar.com/post/890-jump-expectations-vs-reality
Just more proof that I am not the only one not happy with the 890 jump.

Youtube the following Tittles as well

youtube"Star Citizen - The Controversial Subject" by youtuber KiraTV

youtube"Star Citizen UNDER FIRE - UK Involved: Is This Even Fair?" by youtuner Bellular News

youtube" What if Star Citizen fails?" by youtber "Drinkers With Gaming Problems"

anyway, I want my money I don't understand why people hold my money hostage. I am tired of waiting and harassment. The 890 jump is the last straw for me. If Chris Roberts can't deliver on his promises on a ship like the 890 jump what makes you think he delivers on MMORPG or sq42

Do you play any other multiplayer games other than Star Citizen?
yes I do have a lot of games on origin store, steam, and few games on epic store plus gog.

I mostly play guildwars 2 and my favorite game of all time is mass effect2 RIP Bioware.

I can't edit my posts above but show the advertisement for the 890 jump.

If I can't get money back and star citizen fails I am done with gaming.

Ok, do you go shouting all over forum's and demanding your money back every time ArenaNet make a change to Guild Wars 2?

Did you demand your money back when Bioware updated the ending to Mass Effect 3?

I ask these questions because these games (that you've just admitted to playing lots) have had updates that some would say they didn't like yet, these are fully fledged, released games.

Star Citizen is barely an Alpha and is currently in development where things will change regularly, that's how building things work. You're also warned things will change and ship specifications will change, of course they will, you have to balance the game somehow.

So I don't buy you complaining for your money back, You knew what you were getting yourself into and now you just want to complain because you either didn't understand or don't want to.

Yes, but can you at least understand that, "building", "alpha", & "$350,000,000", shouldn't be mutually inclusive, yet they very much are?

I can play guildwars 2 right now. I don't have a game after 10 years and nothing to do with star citizen. So yeah I want my money back. When I play guildwars 2 I get great customer service better than CIG. People don't hide my thoughts, questions, and comments on ArenaNet forums. They don't run from my sources whenever I show them. ArenaNet fans don't harass me thanks.

Guildwars 2 fans and game devs have a backbone and thick alligator skin and understand what gamers want hence ArenaNet games are still around like guild wars.

Best of all I can edit my comments. links sources without time limit.

So you're saying the guy in here who pledged crazy money for a large ship should get his money back because they changed it?

I mean, you didn't really answer any of my questions but I guess it's good you don't obsess over Star Citizen and play other games? :)

If star citizen fails and I lose my money or don't get back my money I going to say that tech spot and their media has bias and protected cig Chris Roberts from my criticisms. I would be a victim and tecgspot played a role by hiding my thoughts. My experiences and I am the paying consumer.

No such thing as freedom of speech on the internet. I am trying to show false adverting and give my experiences with products I own. techspot made choice to hide some of my comments. clear into cancel culture.

Some tech companies and internet companies are the biggest lairs the dishonest people on the planet. Yeah experts at silicon valley are lairs. There is this thing called human rights and freedom of speech. The last time I checked I am paying consumer venting my personal experiences.

Can I ask how many of you commenting here own ships from CIG?

SO you don't own any star citizen products or have not paid as much as I did and you are questioning my experiences?

If star citizen fails will you be out of money or not have two games from CIG that are own by Chris Roberts? who are you again?
