Advice on new motherboard

Hey all.

I need a new motherboard and thought I'd ask those who actually know something about all the different options out there and what to look out for ('cuz I don't).

What I'd like is something that is compatible with what I have now with some ability to upgrade in the future. Nothing too fancy.

PC is a Compaq Presario 6430 with AMD XP 2600+ VIA DDR KM266
Current (fried) motherboard is stock AM37.
Video card is GeForce FX 5200 Asylum 256MB.

Any suggestions?
