AGP Questions for a Compaq Presario S4220NX

I have a Compaq Presario S4220NX
I don't have a video card for it yet, but I'm interested in buying this card from Tiger Direct:
Chaintech XGI Volari V3 / 128MB DDR / AGP 8X / VGA / DVI / TV Out / Video Card
(mostly because it's cheap and I don't want to spend too much)

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1043623&Tab=0&NoMapp=0

Is a 8X AGP card OK for my machine?
I don't know what my AGP number is for my motherboard.
I have tried to use EVEREST, but under Motherboard Name, it just says Unknown.

Some advice please?
Thanks

This sometimes happens with OEM mother Board, just try to find the chipset that u r using from the little that i could find from the compaq website it seems u have onboard video but there was no other specifications.

also if it is possible try to find out whether u have a AGP slot by openin up the system.

I know it has a APG slot, it just don't know if it is 4x, 8x or what?

I guess, further to the question, if I buy an 8x card, and I have a 4x slot, what will happen?

There are some 8X cards which support 4X, check the box , usually it is mentioned whether it is 8X/4X and then if ur MB supports only 4X then it will run 4X, there will not be much performance diffrence. so goahead and get a card.

Good hunting :grinthumb
