Analysts: Microsoft will undercut Sony on next-gen console price; Xbox Series X could...

And why would you even consider i7 with a RTX2060 laptop over Ryzen? Plus at $400 that will be INSANE deal, maybe not to 144Hz gamers but personally I care about visuals before refresh rate so 4K @ 60 with very good visuals for $400 - $500? Take my money that's all I'm saying
Xbox live and $60 titles say your pricing is off.

You forgot the factor of XBL and PS+ over the consoles lifespan and full priced games at $60. Let's say 6-7 years of this. 50x6= $300 just to connect to the internet you already pay for. A full price game every year 60x6= $360. We're talking over $1k by the time the console is dying... so no consoles don't cost $400-500..
I don't understand this argument.. First Console games do go on sale. Not to the extent that PC games do but 50% off on AAA games is not uncommon at all. Off the top of my head I bought ME:Andromeda DA:Origins and AC:Origins for $20-$30 each, and that included all the DLC and extras.

These were all purchased at least a year after release but PC games don't immediately go on sale either. Sure, Xbox live is an additional cost. But you get free games every month. And if you subscribe to the game pass you'll get access to a library at a price no PC service can match. Furthermore you get it from a company with more staying power than Steam/EA/etc. If Microsoft goes under chances are we live in a world where gaming isn't much of a priority anymore.

My Xbox console also offers me an easy way to get Netflix, prime video, Hulu, etc all in one place, always up to date, and connected to my large TV where I most want to consume this content. Sure I can throw together a small PC and shove it in my entertainment center but it won't be as convenient or cost effective from a hardware standpoint. I don't want to navigate a PC with a controller, and I sure as hell don't want to keep up with a mouse and keyboard in my living room.

Lastly the ease of playing games with friends that may not be particularly tech savvy is a major advantage. No one has to download voice comm software. No one has to worry about screwy networking preventing them from connecting. No one has to update their drivers to get the best performance their machine can offer.

There are a lot of reasons people may not be interested in console gaming but to suggest that price of the next gen consoles with the specs that have been released doesn't represent a great value is disingenuous.

The PS4 and especially the Xbox One were terrible value propositions at launch. This generation is a welcome turn around. I'm sitting here in front of a rig running a 3570K and a 590 that just replaced a failing 660TI. I was looking to drop 800-1500 on a new gaming machine. I'm seriously considering letting it sit for another year or two and playing any games my current rig can't handle on the next gen Xbox. That's something that would never have crossed my mind in previous generations.

There‘s used games for consoles and they, too, have special offers. I have only purchased very few brand new AAA titles for console, the majority were either used or marked down versions of the game that come out a year or so after release and include all optional items for roughly € 20 or less.

Having to pay in order to be able to play multi player games is annoying but both Sony‘s and Microsoft‘s plans come with free games.

Also, it‘s not like PC games are free. A brand new AAA game for PC costs the same as for consoles. And the bargain basement sales on steam (bought a few of these) can usually be had for the same on consoles. So I do not get the supposed „free game“ advantage PC have unless you are willing to pirate.

Note that I have both. Each has its pros and con but I definitely see consoles as a cheaper and more convenient way to game for mainstream users, but that‘s just my opinion.

If a PC is better for your use case, by all means go for that.

The games on XBL and PS+ aren't free if you're paying a subscription lol

They are free if you haven't included them in your analytics as to whether or not to subscribe.

Alternatively you cam say you are paying $60 for 36 games a year and the ability to play them online. If we look at it that way your paying less than $2 a game. Check mate PC gamers.

But of course that's not a reasonable way to look at it either as you may have no interest in playing some or any of those games. My point was adding up all the costs and leaving out key benefits is a poor way to objectively evaluate the console.

Brand new games on Steam are basically just as expensive as games for consoles do that argument its a no argument as to live subscription even if you add £300 over the 7 years to the price of the console that's still cheap honestly PC gamers are so annoying

That's because PC gamers only always need to make themselves feel better with this silly comments, PC gaming is better but its not for everyone and it doesn't always makes financial sense

Every PC player thinking maybe I should buy an xbox than build a new pc.
Don't need an Xbox or a new PC. If I had to get a console, then it would be a PS4 since all of the Xbox exclusives will eventually be ported to the PC.

My 1080ti is performing flawlessly and by the time the Xbox series X is released, Better performing cards will be less than $400. The Radeon 5700 in the Xbox series X will be a full generation behind AMD's new releases and be much slower than even their next-gen mid-range card.

Even though my PC is more expensive, the work I do on it has made me more money than I can ever make on an Xbox.

That's funny because the GPU in XSX will be much more powerful and advanced than 5700.....so you are talking out of your ***

We'll see I doubt it seriously.
Any brand new title can be had at a discount on greenman, for PC.
I used to be a console gamer. Then they tried to charge me to use the internet I already pay for so I wised up.

Yeah....... much more powerful I'm sure! Hopefully, it will finally outperform a 3 year GTX1080ti which would be nearly 4 years old by the time the series X is released. I stand corrected on the Radeon 5700. So I'll just call it Radeon 5700 XT ++!

True that! Plus it's not like my new Xbox series X is going to include the following:

The 4k TV With a True 120hz Refresh Rate. (and Low Response times)
At least 2 games to keep me entertained.
and Online subscription

These things will easily add to the cost of the new Xbox.

Think about it 5700 and 5700XT are RDNA1 and peak performance its around 9.5TF the GPU in XSX is RDNA2 and it will have 12TF of power plus many techniques that RDNA1 doesn't not support. As for the games you can get good deals everywhere. I game on PC and both consoles why limit myself?
