Hey there gang.

I tried to open "msconfig" the other day and WOW!... it's not there.

I've scanned repeatedly with "spybot-s&d," "avast!" & "adaware." No real love.

Here's the "hijack-this" log if anyone can help.

Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Your system is infected with several nasties.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT and AVG Antispyware logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

finally

Sorry it's taken me so long. Between scanning and working... it took me forever.

All steps taken. As instructed. In order.

Logs are attached.

Thank you, again... in advance.

Your attached HJT log is fine, therefore I`ve deleted your copy and pasted log.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Delete all files in AVG Antispyware quarantine.

Go to add remove programmes in your control panel and uninstall anything to do with(if there).

Update03

Close control panel.

Open your task manager, by holding down the ctrl and alt keys and pressing the delete key.

Click on the processes tab and end process for(if there).

Keygen.exe
ALCMTR.EXE

Close task manager.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Keygen] C:\Program Files\Update03\Keygen.exe

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\Program Files\Update03<Delete the entire folder.
C:\windows\ALCMTR.EXE

Reboot into normal mode and rehide your protected OS files.

Post a fresh HJT log and let me know if you`re still having problems.

Regards Howard :)

Your HJT log is clean.

Maybe your msconfig file is missing or corrupt.

Search your system for msconfig.exe and let me know the full filepath, if you find it.

Mine is located in C:\Windows\PCHealth\Helpctr\Binaries

I have attached the msconfig.exe file in a zip folder, just in case you need it.

Regards Howard :)

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I'm going to love this message board. Hopefully I'll be able to help someone half as much as you've helped me.
