  1. Hello All. I am probably going to have to replace the hard drive in one of my laptops. Being fairly new to all of this, I will pose the question of " how do I save my Windows XP OS? I have lost the original installation disk, but have the identification number which is still attached to the bottom of the laptop. I would prefer not to buy another copy if at all possible. Thanks again for any help and advice.

    Welcome to Techspot.
The only thing you can do is make an image of your current HDD using Acronis and do a restore on your new HDD.

Try DriveImageXML. I use this to clone drives. Or HDD Clone it's free with speed limit though.

When I arrived, one of the Mods welcomed me with these helpful hints.

You should read how to post a new thread in this Guide.

Before posting you should read all the Posting Guidelines.

To access technical support you may go to the Forums.

Many users like to post system specs in their Profile.
System Specs are always helpful when you seek support, (see the first two suggestions).
And helpers may ask that you post some of your specs in your thread.

You can access many other online TechSpot guides Here.

    Enjoy your Stay :)
