Any smart one can help me ,No background music while game is in progress

iam using winxp and iam trying to play games like prince of persia and godfather
the graphics and everything is fine
even the voice sound of characters is fine
and the swords and crashes sound is fine
ONLY the background music is not working for all games
i dont know why, very strange

may when i setup this games , the setup was in DOS console , not graphics setup
may be its the problem, i dont know
but i really appreciate any help
