Apple has released the event schedule for their Worldwide Developers Conference. The annual event gets started with a keynote on June 11 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET and runs through June 15 in San Francisco, California.
While it hasn’t been confirmed by Apple, all logic points to the keynote being led by Tim Cook flanked by the standard cast of Cupertino characters. This would be the first WWDC keynote led by Cook since his appointment as CEO last year.
As the name suggests, the closed conference is geared towards software developers so odds are that we will probably be introduced to iOS 6 and OS X updates during the keynote. Apple typically likes to introduce new software during the summer months.
As GadgetBox points out, with the exception of the iPhone 4S, WWDC has served as a launching pad for most of the previous iPhones. That changed last year as Apple delayed the introduction of their current generation handset until October. That said, it seems more likely that we could be on track for a similar launch schedule this year. Simply put, most aren’t anticipating a new iPhone to be shown at next month’s WWDC.
Tickets to this year’s event sold out in less than two hours and developers that can’t make it to California are invited to watch sessions online. Those who were able to score tickets can keep up with the event schedule by downloading the WWDC app.
