Sorry to be so thick,
but I have searched the obvious but cannot find the answer,

I have a Asus A7V333 mobo 1gig ddram but only a 1.7tbird(2.1I think)

I am doing video work and have about 310gig of hard drive space but everything is so slow.

What I need to know is what is the fastest processor I can get and what difference will it make.

Thanks Art

That is why most manufacturors have put up a CPU Support Page.

If your board is a Revision 1.01, you can go all the way to 2600+ Thoroughbred ( the version with a 133FSB running at 2133mhz ).

If your board is a revision 2.0, you can use a 3000+ ( Barton core / 2167mhz / 166FSB ) if the board is using the BIOS 1016 & you have PC2700 Ram at least.

As for the performance increase, you'd have to look at the performance of such a chip on an nForce2 board. It might be a little bit slower ( the kt333/kt400 chipset is a bit slower then the nForce2 ) but not by too much.

Thanks Friend,

I knew the info was there, but after ages of searching I coukd not get to it.

I know that the search engines are now much more money driven and what we want is furthur down the list.

assistance appreciated.
