Asus p4v8x mobo problem

i have a signal problem with my asus p4v8x mobo. i fitted my processor etc. but when it is powered up everything works fine i.e led power light working, cpu working,etc. the problem is no signal , not even post shows. i am using a p4 northwood 2,66 chip, 1gig ram, xp os, the same components working fine on my asrock mobo. maybe the asus mobo only supports prescott p4 chips. iwould appreciate assistance with this issue. regards
