Hi, I have a ASUStek P5RC-LE mobo that came with a celeron D processor, and is upgradeable to pentium D. I heard about the new budget dual core cpus Intel released and I wondered if I could use one of those in my motherboard since it has support for a 800mhz fbs. I tried looking for an update but I found nothing. Ive been looking for days now, the Asus webpage doesnt even support my motherboard and the latest update in the compaq webpage is from 2006 so I doubt it supports the pentium dual core. If anyone can help me with this ordeal it would be greatly appreciated. If I cannot find a driver i might try putting the pentium dual core in anyways and see if it works.

Have you considered replacing the motherboard and CPU as a kit. Most of the major online tech stores have combo offerings. Some are quite good... They sell units that are a few months old after sales have slowed. You can get excellent deals... just watch for Refurbs because they may not have worked for others.
