We have a Windows 2000 Server at work and we do nightly tape backups. Lately, whenever I go to change out the backup tape, the green light on the CD Rom drive starts to blink and the server freezes up, off and on. The only way I can make it stop freezing up is to completely shut it down and restart. I checked the event viewer and it shows and atapi error, event 15, and it says "The device\Device\Ide\Ide Port1, is not ready for access yet." Does this mean that the drive is bad? It started out doing this maybe once a month. Now it is doing this almost every other day. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be?
