ATI 1300 display problem

I've gone throught the forum and only to find that this card is, er, terrible, if it is not sucks.

Here's my problem: I've been using Grandmars ATI Radeon X1300 for some time and recently, when I am viewing some avi or movies, the player (whether it's Media or Real player) I've got a mosaic/negative like display. What's give?

I've tried to installe the latest Catalyst and borrow another ATI Radeon X1600 and the same problem still occurs! Is it something to do with Codex?

BTW, here's my spec.: P4 2.8G with 1G RAM, 250G Hard Drive, Widnows XP (SP2), MS .Net Framework 1.1 (and 2.0), Windows Media Player 9, Real Player 10, XviD, DivX 6.2.2.

Thanks in advance!

Is your ATI overclocked? If it;s out of the limit-line (from wikipedia), there will be mosaic effect on the video.

btw are you sure your video itself is in a good condition?
For codec you can easily find in download.com and choose the most popular one like K-Lite codec pack.
