Audio problems when listening to music.

Some how today, I was listening to some music and all of the sudden the song got very distorted for some reason. I thought it was weird and just changed the song. Same problem. Now every thing I listen to has lots of distortion in it. I am using Winamp. I tried using other media programs like ITunes to see if it was just Winamp and it wasn't. I also tried plugging in headphones to see if it was just my speakers but it did it on the headphones as well. Anyone please suggest on how to fix my problem?

well first thing try uninstall /reinstall your audio card.

remove audio card and reset it as well.

How would I go about doing this? I don't have a cd or anything to re-install my sound card.

you can download sound device drivers from the manufacturers website. Click device manager (for XP, right click my computer, properties, hardware first) click soound devices and look to see which sound crd is installe (eg: soundblaster live). Then type this in google (eg: "sounblaster driver xp") sohould give you a link to the manufacturers site with drivers and help/support as well.
