Audio Stuttering/Going in Slow Motion

Hello, After a recent CLEAN install of windows (after accidently wiping the BIOS), my sound has been acting very wierd. Every so often it will start stuttering or go into slow motion and it is getting really annoying.
Anyone any ideas what it could be or how to fix it?

1GB ram
P4 3.00 GhZ HT

Try downloading codec pack, I think theres one in the techspot download section.

and maybe checking if you have the correct sound drivers..
