is any one else having trouble updating avg? I have been trying to update my antispyware for about an hr. now and keep getting error server is not ready or something like that. I only update it once a wk so, i was wondering if anybody else is having the problem and if you gurus could help my with this one? Thank you and as always most appreciated.

yes it is..I sync. it after i went to the website and i also changed everything in za like it said but, it still will not update.

The easiest way to deal with the sudden quitting of AVG AntiSpyware is to uninstall the version you have, and download it from Grisoft AVG all over again. It is common for AVG AntiSpyware free version to quit after three months of frequent scans. You can use updates, but the Antispyware updates are not as reliable and trouble-free as a completely new install.

alright i did it both ways, i used Howard's dl link and dled the updates it still came up as needing to be updated so, i redled, uninstalled, restarted comp, & reinstalled... it will not update. any suggestions on another program i can use. thank you

That`s very strange. The link to the full updates I gave you should have worked with no problems.

I wonder if your system has something nasty that`s preventing your AVG Antispyware running properly?

Please post a HJT log as per these instructions.

Regards Howard :)

hjt log as instructed

ok here it is. I was going to post one anyways but, later today (after I ran all my scans) but, since I haven't been able to update avg I haven't ran them yet so...here is the log and thank you.

Download the attached .zip file, unzuip it and double click on the resulting .reg file. You will be prompted to merge it into your registry, click yes.

You`re running an out dated version of HijackThis, please see HERE for the latest version. Post a fresh HJT log after doing the above.

Run HJT with no other programmes open. Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VerizonServicepoint.exe] C:\Program Files\Verizon\Servicepoint\VerizonServicepoint.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [XPRepairPro2007] C:\Program Files\XP Repair Pro 2007\XPRepairPro.exe /r

O4 - Global Startup: StartupFaster

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {85e1f530-48f4-11d9-9629-08ff2ffc9f67} - (no file)

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT and reboot your system.

Try running an AVG Antispyware scan and see what happens. Post the AVG Antispyware log(if you can) as well as a fresh HJT log.

Regards Howard :)

Your HJT log is clean. However, I need you to do the following.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 from HERE. Save it to your Desktop and extract it.

2. Download the attached avengerscript.txt and save it to your desktop

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.

Under "Script file to execute" choose "Load script from file".
Now click on the folder icon which will open a new window titled "open Script File"
navigate to the file you have just downloaded, click on it and press open
Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:

It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

5. Please attach the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Regards Howard :)

Go to add remove programmes in your control panel and uninstall anything to do with(if there).

MeMe

Close control panel.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\Program Files\MeMe<Delete the entire folder.

Reboot your system, run another AVG Antispyware scan and post a fresh AVG Antispyware log, if it finds anything.

Regards Howard :)
