Just helping outa friend with her laptop. Of course she doesn't have any protection...so what does she expect right?

Anyway, got most of the bugs out, but need a professional to look at the hijack log...

I'm not exactly a professional, but..

You are running an outdated version of HijackThis.

Please go to this thread HERE.
Please post your HijackThis log as an attachment to this thread. Do not copy and paste if not it will be ignored and/or removed by the moderators.


I also notice your friend has the MyWay search assistant installed. From wikipedia,

MyWay Searchbar, also known as MyWay Speedbar, is a spyware and adware program presented as a search toolbar that allows the user to query Google, Ask Jeeves, Yahoo!, and LookSmart search engines. HP and Dell pre-install this software on some of their commercially sold PCs. It is also bundled with some versions of Kazaa.

If you wish to remove it,
go to Control Panel : Add / Remove Programs MyWay Search Assistant.
Next, Delete the entire folder "C:\Program Files\MyWay".
Then, go to start > run and type regedit. Press Enter.
Manually nagivate to the following file and delete it.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0494D0D4-F8E0-41AD-92A3-14154ECE70AC} HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0494D0D6-F8E0-41AD-92A3-14154ECE70AC} HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{0494D0D0-F8E0-41AD-92A3-14154ECE70AC}

That said, please post your fresh updated hijackthis log as an attachment. I cannot further stress how important it is.

Ok, hereis the new log with the new version of hijack. I'm not really worried about the search toolbar. I just want to make sure there is not anything major on this computer to worry about. But I will most likely remove the tool bar at another time...

With reference to these following entries in HijackThis, fix them if your friend does not frequent the sites:

Apart from that, and the MyWay search bar, the log is pretty clean.
