Has anyone tryed the multiplayer demo yet ?

It's looking very sweet. It reminds me of MOHAA a lot but with vehicules you can drive.:)

I've downloaded the demo but haven't ahd time to try it out. Here's a good article on it -> 3DActionPlanet

The MP demo can be downloaded here -> 3DGamers

Here are a few pictures taken from the 3DActionPlanet article for those that want to click.;)

The maps look huge too. The difference with MOHAA is that you can really go anywhere you want on the map ( that doesn't mean you won't get killed doing so ... ;) )

Nice. Downloading it as we speak. Maybe this game with vehicles will be bridge the gap between games like CS and Operation Flashpoint. You can have people who are specialised driving/piloting particular vehicles without going to the extremes of having ex-military drivers/pilots as can be found in Operation Flashpoint clans....

I'm downloading it now too. Looks quite good - graphics wise from the screenshots. The people who play multiplayer OpFlash are crazy :dead:

There are sooo many WW2 games out today, i.e.: DoD, RtCW, MoHAA...for the sake of variety I hope this one is good :D

 just noticed it was 130 MB...dial-up users I think you're out of luck.

Maybe we should set up a tourny for this as well? :grinthumb

Quite laggy, but looks like it has a lot of potential. Anyone managed to successfully flight a plane yet? So far I get to the end of the aircraft carrier and then plumet into the sea :(

I played it today for the first time, Damn its gud...im a hardened CS player...but this  ...Requires a monster of a PC though, the Pc's i tried it out on had GF3's and it wasnt running very well at all! Had to turn the gfx down to their lowest settings to make it playable:blackeye:

If u havent already got it, then get it for sure:)

I wish EA would work on the controls on flying the damn plane. I mean flying them is hard enough, trying to bomb something and fly is really hard. grrrr

It ran reasonably on my 1.7Ghz P4, GF2Go 32mb 512mb DDR laptop. Haven't tried it on my Home 1.4Ghz Athlon(at 1.5Ghz) with GF3 64mb yet....

I have all the settings turned up @ 1152x864 w/ my Radeon 8500 and XP 2100+, and I haven't gotten a single little skip yet :D.

I've played it alone just to get a feel for the different character classes; vehicles, ships and all that...Haven't played it multiplayer yet though. I'd love to play with some of you guys

I can manage to get in the air. Then I have to spend the rest of my time trying to keep my plane in the air. Anyone know how to switch to 3rd person when flying?

I have been playing this game quite a bit with my roommate, and it is pretty nice. We have had problems with loading every once in a while, but other than that it is running very good. I can't wait for the real thing to come out. Flying the plane is hard, but if you hit F9 it will get rid of all that cockpit crap, and if you hit F10 it will put you behind the plane looking forward on it. These might help a few people. I know that F9 helped me quite a bit, but I still suck.

Quality Game. Kind of a cross between the uber-realism of Op Flash and MOH:AA.

It is easy to fly planes using the K/b as opposed to the Mouse. And use the External View.

Patch out for the demo

We've definitly passed a milestone when even demos get patched. Anyways here it is -> http://www.3dgamers.com/dl/games/battlefield1942/mp_demo_client_patch_1.1.zip.html

Taken from the patche Readme.txt

Patch 1.1
==================================================================

SERVER FIXES
-Improved server stability.
-Fixed bug that caused server to say it was full when it wasn't.
-Servers started from in-game now use settings from dedicated server
tool if those settings are not in the in-game Create Game front-end.
-LAN servers no longer report to Gamespy master server.
-Limiting the bandwidth now works from the dedicated server

CLIENT FIXES
-All Seeing Eye server browser support added.
-Fixed refresh rate locked to 60 hz in Win2k and XP machines. We're working on getting
this fix for Win98 and ME machines, but we're waiting for dev support from Microsoft
before we can proceed. To enable this on Win2k and XP machines do the following:
-Open the videodefault.con file found in Settings\VideoDefault.con
-Edit the line: renderer.allowAllRefreshRates # (where # can be replaced
by 0 or 1)
-Changing this value to one will allow you to select the refresh rates from the
Options>Video section of the in-game frontend. NOTE: the game will default to 640x480.
-Fixed bug that caused ammo-boxes and health-cabinets to not work occasionally.
-Considerably faster internent in-game browser.
-Added icon in the in-game browser for dedicated servers.
-Added icon in the in-game browser for password protected servers.
-Added icon in the in-game browser showing server CPU status, if it's doing well or if
it's bogged down by too many players for it's capacity (this is dependant upon the CPU
not the bandwidth).
-Added server CPU info in the in-game browser under the server info>rules tab.
-Chat text in-game has it's own color so it's easier to see.
-Server version number will show correctly in server info> rules tab
-Fixed some instances of the internet browser crashing when pressing yes to update to
newer version on a 98 machine.
-Fixed player ability to sink Jeeps and Kubelwagens into the ground.
-Fixed free spectator camera does not turn off, even when unchecked in the server.

Patch for a demo? Never heard of such a thing!

Apparently just because it's so popular, there were some glaring problems in it, and the full game isn't even out yet ;)

Agreed Vehem, there were some pretty bad problems. The patch helped quite a bit, IMO. Game still rocks and I can't wait until it comes out. Does anyone know a date by chance?????

Alright, it appears that it is supposed to come out this weekend. But I can't wait for the single player missions. They look really fun.......I am gonna get my hands on it as soon as I can......Well that's all I got for now.......until it actually comes out....cya

1.Read the manual (+install guide)
2.practice (those f'n planes)
3.have fun

p.s. have P3 850,SE-440BX,Winfast GF3,256Ram...cant max everything out but almost, still playing with ratios tho, but runs fine and looks sweet---except 4 load times

when u get full V...coz u will:D

but basically i like the concept of being able 2 switch roles, and even the respawn, and tank driving is dang cool--especially over a 'bump' , be it an enemy soldier or dirt.
Sure ther's a *cough* few *cough* bugs, but the potential is there. ;)

if ur FPS r bad ...examine sound settings...disable and try again, then go from there

so how is the game overall..........better that Ut2k3 or not?
i have ut2k3 and i personally think it is the best game i ever played
thats only because im a diehard DEATH MATCH bad to the bone dude that loves the hard core and intensity of UT.......not into Mohaa but hey i see that the graphics are awsome

Battlefield 1942 was award both Game of the Year and Multiplayer Game of the Year from PCGamer. I think it was well-deserved :D

Congrats to Battlefield 1942's dev team, Digital Illusions! :D

Nice...
I agree with the multiplayer game of the year, but single player is a bit of a let down...
But it's still great on LAN parties! :)
