Hello To All, new to the forum names Coop. I recently got an emachine T6410, and have been reading trying to decide on a video card the more I read the more unsure of what to get! Would someone PLEASE get me to looking the right way? Thanks Coop

If rich and ATI, then X1800 XT.
If rich Nvidia, then Geforce 7800 GTX.
If poor and ATI, then X1600 Pro.
If poor and Nvidia, Geforce 6600 GT.

And, before you go with 6600 GT,

remember that the X1600 is a newer card. And I think it's better performing.

At my local shop a 6600GT 128MB costs more than a X1600 Pro 256MB.

Me it's 180$ CAD while the 6600GT 128MB is 190$.

It's even cheaper than the X700Pro 256MB(213$).

I asked if there was an error with the price and there are no errors.

It's supposed to be the same thing in China.

That local store, while having practically no selection, has the lowest prices, even lower than any online retailers. They're amazing!

6800GS

It costs~$200 and offers similar peformance to the 6800Gt. If you're willing to go used, get the X800XL for ~170.

for 200-300, I would say go for teh 6800GS or if you are willing to spend like close to 300 or a tad more, you can actually get 7800GT

I would go for the 7800GT - the retail eVga 7800GT is selling for just 299$ at newegg, a really great deal, and I think you wont regret buying it - it's a great card :)

Im gonna make u take back ur word about lower price than onluine retailer :D
http://www.ncix.com take a visit buddy hehehehhe 6600GT for $165 > 190@ur 'cheap' shop the x700pro is $175 > 213@ ur 'cheap'shop

u should gimme a cookie for this

edit: jus found this.. $160 http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=14798&vpn=X700PRO-128-PE&manufacture=SAPPHIRE
that surely beats $213 at ur 'cheap' shop there :haha: its 128mb.. but why pay 53$ to get 128mb more when u could jus go all the way up to get a 6800GS instead *sigh*

Yep, go for the 299$ eVga 7800GT, it's definately a lot faster then all the cards mentioned here, not to mention more future proof - try to get the extra $$$ by saying you'll be extra nice or do more choirs or something :)

That 7800GT is worth it!
