Black screen after installing new ATI Catalyst 5.6

I get a black screen right after start-up when installing the newest ATI Catalyst 5.6 on my Radeon 9550. System works fine until I install these drivers. :unch:

Is there some reason why you want to install the latest drivers?

If your system is fine with the drivers you have been using, then leave it at that.

the reason why i want to upgrade is because the drivers are the stock drivers that come with the card and I can not play the newer games that come out.

I see. Have you tried any of the previous drivers?

You may need to completely uninstall the current drivers first.

Download Driver cleaner from http://www.drivercleaner.net/

Uninstall all ATI entries from add remove programmes, then run the cab cleaner, followed by driver cleaner. Reboot your system and install the version of the drivers you want.

yeah I was wondering what previous driver works best for that card.

I couldn`t tell you that, cause I use Nvidia.

I`m sure someone on these boards will know the answer though.
