Blank Monitor

My monitor is black when I start my comuter and stay black. I just hooked up 2 hard drives with a dual ise connector. I went back to just one hard drive with the same cable but still the same results. So I used my old single connector cable and it works fine. My new one is an 80 wire and the old is a 40 wire could this be the problem?

It could be the problemif you hoked up the IDe cable backward. there should be a red line on one side of the cable and it should be to the outside when connected to the hard drive.

Im pretty sure I hooked it up right. Maybe its a problem with having a 40 pin cable and 39 pin hard drive

red line faces in and the power red line faces into center of drive
make sure the drives are jumpered right
check make sure the drives can handle 100mhz speed you can go back but not up
that is to say there may be an issue with a 66mhz running on a 100mhz bus the cable has pin setup that tell the MB what the speed to set default
you can run 100mhz on 66mhz cable
if you have a 2 connector 40wire 40 pin cable try it see if you get video back
don't worry bout the missing pin on drive

I got it to work. I guess the cable going into the motherboard was backwards.
