Boot CD

Hi,

I have a Compaq laptop, it is not working properly, it is asking for a boot cd, i dont have any boot cd, or the OS cd, can anyone fix this issue.

Uhm,

perhaps try the Compaq website to see if you can download a driver cd.

Or you can contact compaq and ask em if they can send you the driver cd. This will incur a small fee.

it is not my comp, actually given to me by my uncle, it says ' bootn.exe ' is missing, it is not booting to windows, can i download it from some where, expecting ur reply.

it sounds like your MBR is corrupt. since you dont have a XP CD you cant boot and run Fixboot. your laptop should have a partition with the necessary installl files on it to reload windows. usually you have to press something like F2 during bootup. if you have files on there you need to recover before running the recovery option I suggest you make a BartPE disk and boot from it to recover your files.
