I have an HP Laptop (I know that's the real problem) that doesn't want to boot to anything I throw at it. First the hard drive went out, and I confirmed that by trying it in another laptop. Now, however, it won't boot to the Windows CD. I've checked the boot order in the BIOS, and the CD-Rom is first, followed by the HD. I installed Windows onto a new HD in another PC and then put it in this laptop, and still get "Non-System disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready." Any ideas?

1. please post in the correct forum. This belongs in the mobile computing forum.

2. I would check your power adapter and also the seating of your hard drive and CD rom.

Well, I checked those, but I also check with HP and it's under warranty for two more weeks, so off to HP we go. Thanks.
