Im building myself a gaming rig, and I dont know eveything I could. Below is a list of eveything im planning on getting so far. As you can see I didnt go with a dual core, and thats for two reasons. 1 I just want to game really, and I havent read anything that makes me think it would warrent the extra price, 2 the extra price. I am trying to keep this under $2k after shipping.
So please tell me if this looks good, and give me any suggestions. Thank you very much.

The future is Duel-Core. Why be left be hind? for a few more bucks you can get a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103562

It is an AMD Athlon X2 3800. You said this is for gamming right? Todays newier games stive for duel-core. Exaple Oblivion had up to a 30% increase in with duel-core.

Also why don't you just wait a few weeks for Conroe? I want you to read this form here
https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic51984.html

Conroe is going to destory AMD :-C.

Best of luck and tell me you opion on everything.

1. AMD still makes the best CPUs you can buy. it will be much more than a few weeks before conroe is avaible as a stand alone retail processor in significant quantities (it will be avaiable only in OEM systems for a while first).

2. you would be better off buying AM2 and dual core than 939 and single core. dual core is the present and games are being written to take advantage of it. while a high end single core CPU may be faster right now, as more and more games come out dual core will prevail. I also suggest AM2 over 939 because 939 will be limited to the current generation of AMD processors. the next gen AMDs are coming out sooner than you think and you would have to buy a new mobo to upgrade.

3. also conroe will not destroy AMD, it will simply put intel back into the enthusiest market (they lost that battle long ago). K8L is the next generation of AMD processors and they will take advantage of conroe's weaknesses. we will have to wait and see what happens there, but rest assured that AMD does have something in the works to potentially win back their long held performance crown :)
