Hello!
Recently I noticed that my computer stopped downloading pictures. I right click and save as... once I name it and hit save save the window closes and nothing happens. I usually save pictures to my desktop but when I save them now they don't show up. I can download normal files, just not pictures. This includes pictures via photoshop and MSpaint. What might be my problem and how can I fix it?

Click start/search/Pictures,Music,Video/Pictures and Photo`s and click search. See if your pictures show up. The reason I say to do this is I`m wondering if your pictures are being saved to a temp file or something. If they don`t show up, click "Change whether hidden and system file are included" and click " Expanded- includes all files and folders" and click search.

Pictures are showing up for that. I had a friend recommend that I repair/ reinstall windows. Might that fix my problem?

What do you mean by that? If the pictures that are showing up are the pictures you downloaded but couldn`t find earlier, then you need to reset where you download your pictures to.

No none of them are the pictures I had tried to download. They are just pictures that I had previously downloaded prior to this problem.

Thats strange and I don`t know what the problem is at the moment.

I`d like to check your system for malware.

Your system is infected with malware. Whether this is the cause of your particular problem isn`t clear at the moment, but the malware needs to be got rid of.

I have therefore moved your thread to our Security and the Web forum.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.
