  1. I am buying a new Western Digital Raptor 74GB hard drive and I'm wondering since it's OEM, do I need any special software to reformat it? It's going to be used with latest hardware (Asus P4P800-Deluxe).

You should have the drivers you need with MOBO,those HD's are best when used with raid 0

I only can have one HD, they're expensive! :D

Hmmmm. I think what I'm looking for is a formatter for the HD before Windows XP.

Maybe I'm behind, I haven't had to reformat for a very long time. Can Windows XP reformat? :D

No, you don't. Now, all of the late operating systems format for you. OEM just means it doesn't come with the extra goodies like bells and whistles such as a file optimizer, or pcquickfix (made up name), etc.

Yes, Windows XP can do this for you.
