can i convert movies played on my laptop through the USB to 5.1 speaker system?

what about the iLINK instead of USB?

i am not really a pro in this so plz bear with me

i bought a 5.1 speaker system but i found out that it needs fibre optic cable or digital coaxial which i don't have on my laptop

so how can i fix this problem

return the speakers. your sound card, speakers, setup, and movies all have to be 5.1 capable to get dolby 5.1 sound. if your laptop's sound card doesn't support 5.1, then you is s.o.l.!
another option would be to get an external soundcard, but before you buy make sure your laptop can support it!
