Cannot start my computer: System error

Sep 16, 2008
  1. Hello everyone and thank you for your precious time.

I have a Toshiba M35-S320 laptop. It has been working fine for 3 years and then, all of a sudden, it did not.
When I start the computer, a dark screen with the toshiba logo comes up.
After 1 or 2 minutes, a system error message appears:
    0201: Failure IDE #0.
    It gives me two option
    1) Run Set Up
    2) Boot

If I choose option 2, the screen says:

    Intel(R) Boot Agent FE v4.1.10
    Copyright (C) 1997-2003 Intel Corporation

    Operating System not found

    If I choose option 1:

Phoenix Bios Set Up Utility screen appears. What is this?

    Please help

    Hi and welcome to TechSpot

Just as an fyi, you'll get better responses if you post your messages in the appropriate forum (where others might be looking for technical subject matter and questions). This is forum is New Member introductions. (You might try posting under Mobile Computing instead) If you click here and scroll to the bottom of page display, you'll see the FAQs for the site you should find helpful.

As far as your problem, it appears likely a problem with your Toshiba not being able to read from your hard drive (IDE is a type of hard drive controller. Other output you post is also consistent with a hard drive problem)
