Can't open Hard Disk in Vista

I just finished setting up Vista on my Media Center PC. I set it up on a new drive so no prolems with upgrades etc.

I used my old C: drive as a spare (its now D:) but although vista recognized it, it won't let me open the drive in explorer etc. I suspected that it may be a permissions problem, so I went into the properties of the drive and the security tab, and enabled everything for Admins and System. Still no access!

How do I access my drive?

I got around my problem by turning off UAC.

If anyone knows a more "elegant" way to solve this problem, let me know. Thanks.
