a friend of mine asked me to clear her Pc which had been infected. I have spent many hours on this and whilst having got rid of most of it there are still a few pesky bits lying around. Hopefully they are not now causing any problems as I have added SPYBOT, ADaware and Zonealarm to her existing AVG but would like to clear them out. She is running XP with NTL broadband.
There are two remaining problems...
AVG keeps reporting that it has cleared Downloader.Generic.TUC but even after running it in safe mode it keeps coming back.
A rogue spoolsv keeps starting, as shown in the attached hijackthis log.
This is the first time that I have used this tool and am not entirely sure how to read it. I am fairly computer literate and am quite happy using the registry. It would appreciate it greatly if as well as telling me how to fix the problem someone would explain where to find the relevant resources so that in future I could investigate this better myself.
