CD/DVD Slow Down

ok so i just finished building my new computer and i moved my dvd-rom and my dvd-rw to my new computer. its a dual core so i thought is would go fater when i burn a cd but it runs so slow. even for installing games i takes for ever.

i think i didn't plug the ribbons correctly to the MoBo It has a red connection and a blue connection but i dont know in which one it goes into.

A couple of things, first did you install the motherboard drivers? second, check in device manager under IDE ATA|ATAPI Controllers" under the advanced tabl of the ide channel the drive is on and see if the drive is operating in DMA or PIO.

What is your hardware setup? ( mobo, CPU, hard drive Sata or IDE? etc) are both drives on the same cable or on seperate ones?
