Cloning monitor is black & white on tv

I'm using an svideo to colored things (i don't know what to call it, uh, the red, white, yellow plugs) cable to connect my laptop to the tv to get a bigger picture. however, the tv screen is black and white. it used to work properly, but for some reason it isn't anymore. i know it isn't the cable or the tv. my video card is an ati radeon x1270. everything seems to work but the color, any help would be great. it is in the right format (m/ntsc) so i really don't know what is wrong
